The BEAM is evolving, and so are we.
Code BEAM Europe is heading to the historic Philharmonic in Haarlem, creating a space where the most reliable tech meets the most innovative minds.
We aren’t just looking for talks; we’re looking for the stories that push the ecosystem forward. Whether you are deep in the Erlang internals, scaling Elixir at a startup, or exploring the type-safety of Gleam, we want to hear your perspective.
Are you working with Erlang, Elixir or Gleam?
Whether you're just getting started or contributing to core projects, your experience matters.
Join us in sharing stories, lessons, and ideas with the global BEAM community. No matter your level - if you’re learning, building, or teaching - we’d love to hear what you have to say.
Code BEAM Europe 2026 is an Erlang, Elixir and Gleam conference with either 20-minute or 40-minute in-person speaking slots including optional Q&A with both in-person and virtual audiences.
This year we are looking for great talk ideas around the themes of:
1. Data Sovereignty & Digital Autonomy
Exploring the technical and ethical frontiers of data ownership. We invite talks on building decentralised systems on the BEAM, navigating complex compliance landscapes, and the engineering trade-offs between localised control and global-scale performance.
2. Open Source
Examining the long-term health of the ecosystem. We’re looking for talks on the practicalities of maintaining foundational libraries, from ensuring consistent security and compatibility updates to the strategies required to attract and retain active contributors. This theme explores how to move beyond initial releases toward software that remains up-to-date, secure, and sustainable for years to come.
3. Modern & Intelligent Architecture: Backend & IoT
Investigating the intersection of robust server-side patterns and edge computing. We’re looking for deep-dives into high-throughput backend architectures, resilient IoT firmware, and the practical realities of deploying intelligent, self-healing systems in the wild.
4. Growth & Adoption
Analysing the strategic and organisational aspects of the BEAM ecosystem. This track welcomes perspectives on the hurdles of introducing Erlang, Elixir, or Gleam into existing stacks, as well as the realities of team building, developer education, and long-term retention.
5. Real-World Usage & Production Realities
Candid reports from the front lines of deployment and maintenance. We are looking for sessions on managing DevOps lifecycles, navigating technical debt in aging systems, and the "lessons learned" from running BEAM-based services in high-stakes production environments.
6. Scalability & Sustainability
Examining the limits and impacts of high-concurrency systems. Beyond "scaling up," this theme invites discussions on resource efficiency, the environmental footprint of distributed computing (green tech), and architectural patterns that balance performance with long-term sustainability.
But don't worry if your idea doesn't fit within those categories. We're always looking to be wowed by new and exciting submissions!
What are you waiting for? Submit your talk by 31 May 2026, and we'll let you know by 16 June if your submission has been accepted. We can't wait to see what you come up with!
RECOMMEND US OR RECOMMEND A SPEAKER
We want to make sure our conference is as diverse as the community we represent.
Do you know any researchers, programmers or experts who are a part of groups traditionally underrepresented in IT (due to gender, ethnicity or any other reason) and whose work you can recommend to our committee?
Please, let them know, that our CFT is open and that we’d love to see their work! Also, you can suggest their name in the form.
IMPORTANT DATES
New to speaking? We’ve got your back.
We believe some of the best insights come from people who don’t yet realise they’re speakers. If you have a great idea but aren’t sure how to structure your proposal or deliver your talk, our Programme Committee is here to help. From refining your abstract to a friendly "sanity check" on your slides, we provide mentorship and guidance to ensure you feel confident when you step onto the stage at the Philharmonic.
