Robots are cool: an introduction to IOT for Javascript developers

Have you ever wanted to build a robot but didn't know where to start? Is there a project in your head that you'd love to build but you don't want to have to learn C/C++? Then this is the talk for you!

In this session we will cover:
- What a microcontroller is
- How to program hardware without having to use C++
- How to create a basic circuit that won't burn your house down
- Troubleshooting your IoT project when it breaks

This talk will culminate in the building of an IoT doorbell that sends a message when a button is pressed.

Automating ADHD With IOT: How I Used Robots as a Coping Mechanism

Have you ever had trouble focusing and accidentally spent the day researching an obscure topic only to realize it's 9pm and nothing on your to-do list got done today? ADHD makes it easy to hyper focus on fun things but hard to finish routine tasks. I got fed up with my brain and attempted to manage my ADHD with robots.

This talk follows my quest to automate away the easy things that seemed so hard to me. It will explore the cobbled together system of nfc tags and microcontrollers that remind me to do my chores, pay my bills, and eat lunch every day. Many attempts to do this failed and we will explore what worked, what didn't, and how users can try this at home.

A People Pleaser's Guide to Salary Negotiation

Negotiating salaries is hard. It’s harder if you always want people to like you. If you fall behind your peers and don’t reach your full earning potential. This talk demystifies negotiation and empowers the attendees to earn as much as their peers while staying true to their personality.

Key Learnings:
- Why negotiation is an equality issue
- How to prepare to negotiate
- Non-monetary benefits you can negotiate
- Components of a successful negotiation script
- “Power moves” that are polite
