Courtney works with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) as the Family Support Program Coordinator. In this role she provides statewide coordination for child abuse and neglect prevention and evidence-based home visiting program areas. Courtney is the Co-Chair of the Trauma-Informed Care advisory board within the Department of Children and Families and serves on the Office of Children’s Mental Health family board. Courtney also holds a master’s degree in Business Administration and is currently working towards her Doctorate in Business Administration with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership.

Courtney is Native American and has blood lines from the Menominee and Arikara Nations. Growing up within the boundaries of a Reservation, Courtney saw and experienced many inequities and disparities and developed a passion for advocating for change. She is particularly interested in how incorporation of trauma-informed methods might change the outlook for individuals who have been subjected to trauma’s throughout their lifetimes and how we might change that outlook for our future generations. She hopes that through her research, we can gain a better understanding of how trauma and mental health are crucial determinates of work performance and how leadership response also plays a significant role in those outcomes.
