Making Highways Maintenance Safer with Agents in SharePoint
Frontline operatives in Highways Maintenance work in high-risk environments where access to accurate and up-to-date health and safety information can be a matter of life and death. Traditionally, they’ve relied on thick paper manuals - cumbersome, outdated, and often inaccessible when needed most.
At Amey, a UK-based operations and infrastructure company, we have developed an agent in SharePoint that provides frontline workers with mobile access to critical safety documentation wherever they are working. We were able to develop and commence testing of our solution within a week. The Amey Health and Safety Agent has been well received by operatives who recognise that is saving them time whilst helping them stay safe when out in the field. As one Street Lighting Engineer stated, “Agents in SharePoint are, 100%, making my job much safer.”
But the impact doesn’t stop there. For the first time, managers have insight into how often safety information is accessed, and operatives are able to use the built-in language translation to ask questions and get responses in their preferred language – a huge safety win for a diverse workforce.
In this session we will guide you through our development process and share how we overcame various challenges. You will gain practical prompting tips to get the best out of Agents in SharePoint and understand how our approach can be adapted to enable AI agents to have a positive impact on your business, regardless of the sector.
Whether you are a developer looking to build AI-driven solutions in SharePoint or a business user exploring ways to make information more accessible, this session will showcase how SharePoint can do more than store documents - it can help save lives.
This will be the first public delivery of this session, although Microsoft have used Amey as a case study and produced this video for us:
