David Svoboda has been the primary developer on a diverse set of software projects since he joined the SEI in 2007.

David is a co-author in The CERT Oracle Secure Coding Standard for Java as well as Java Coding Guidelines, and a major contributor in the SEI CERT C Coding Standard and SEI CERT C++ Coding Standard. He has taught courses in C/C++/Java Secure Coding all over the world, to various groups in the military, government, and banking industries. David has also given multiple security-related presentations to IEEE SecDev and JavaOne.

David was the primary developer of the Source Code Analysis Lab (SCALe), a business process for auditing software, as well as a Web-based GUI for presenting alerts from multiple static analysis tools. He has used SCALe to audit over 25 codebases in C, C++, Java, and Perl for various government and industry clients. David also led the development of the CERT Rosecheckers project, a static analysis tool for finding violations of the CERT C & C++ Coding Standards in a codebase.

Before he joined CERT, David has built many diverse projects at Carnegie Mellon University since 1991, ranging from hierarchical chip modeling and social organization simulation to automated machine translation (AMT). His KANTOO AMT software, developed in 1996, was in production use at Caterpillar until the 2010's.

Mr. Svoboda holds a B.S. in Applied Mathematics / Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University.
