My name is Davide Calabrò, 25 years old, from Italy. I started programming at the age of 13 and haven't stopped since.
After some years as a software engineer, in September 2021 I landed in Mia-Care. I am involved in the development of the Mia-Platform IDP, following what are the requirements and features needed for the development of Software as a Medical Device (SaMD). In my spare time I ride my motorbike and go trekking with my dog Balù.

Platform Engineering for Certified Software Construction and Governance

Platform engineering is the discipline that involves the design and construction of tool chains and workflows that enable self-service capabilities for software engineering organizations.
Often, there is a need to design and develop software with well-defined standards. These standards may relate to the quality management system, risk assessment management, software life cycle, and so on. However, the governance of such a process can be extremely onerous. A Platform Engineering approach can help not only improve the developer's experience, but also be beneficial to stakeholders more interested in the governance.
We will then discuss how platform engineering can assist in building a platform that facilitates the construction of standardized k8s-based software. Then, we will present a case study about how a development platform can assist the development of Software as a Medical Device (SaMD). We will also analyze the reduction of additional governance costs that such a process requires.

How to rule Kubernetes without knowing Kubernetes

Kubernetes has become one of the most popular tools for building microservices applications. However, introducing this tool into development teams isn't always easy. The introduction of Kubernetes raises the need for new knowledge in development and operations teams and this is one of the main reasons why the adoption of K8s is resisted by business decision makers.
Making the transition to k8s as smooth as possible for development and operations teams can help adoption. Platform engineering, more precisely Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs), can be a way to reduce the knowledge needed by teams to build, maintain and deploy microservice applications, hiding their complexity, thus simplifying the work of the development and operation teams.
We will talk about developer experience, especially how a developer can start developing microservices applications using Kubernetes without knowing what Kubernetes is.
