Don Irwin is a corporate and securities attorney in Mayer Brown's New York office, advising clients at the intersection of emerging technologies and financial services. In the digital asset space, Don has worked with clients to identify and address legal hurdles in the use of blockchain for payments rails, navigate and structure the tokenization of real-world assets (RWA), and strategize and develop responses to U.S bank regulatory developments in digital asset custody.
In law school, Don devoted his last year to researching and developing legal solutions for NFT artists and creators and, through these efforts, received a Cube Innovator's Invitational award for legal tech innovation. He also served as a Student Honors Intern in the Enforcement Division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Prior to law school, Don worked in the chief legal office of Blackstone and as a paralegal in the Frankfurt, Germany office of an international law firm.
