Don Miller has over 20 years of professional experience in addition to the sale of his first program (spaghetti code) at the age of 14. His broad range of experience makes him very relatable to programmers and system engineers. He is a crazed social networker within the nerd community, one of the founding partners of Seed Coworking in Toledo. Don has mastered getting people started on iOS development by curating/teaching classes in the local university, onsite training, and instructing at local, regional, and national conferences.
This is a beginners class to start developing iPhone applications using iOS. Just bring your Mac laptop installed with Xcode 10 and you will create your first "Hello World!" application in the first hour of the day.
This session will give you the knowledge to start building iOS applications using Xcode and Swift. You will use Xcode Playgrounds to dive into Swift and to practice after the class. It will also give you the understanding of terminology to help follow along on other online trainings. Each topic includes some instruction time and some hands-on lab time. The material presented will also be available after the class has completed in an opensource GitHub repository.
This introduction class was designed by Don Miller (Kinship) using his consulting background and teaching experience for his iOS development class at the University of Toledo.
iOS Apps can be fun to build, but rarely do you have a stand alone app. You are either connecting to a 3rd party API or building a web server to get and push data too. Firebase makes it easy to handle all of the behind the scene details needed for a mobile app. In this session you will learn how to install Firebase to use with Xcode and utilize the analytics, database, storage, and authentication. There will be some information on the other features that are available too.
