Dr. Salvatore Palumbo, MD, FACS, FAANS, is a board-certified neurosurgeon and spine specialist on Long Island. He serves as Chief of the Department of Neurosurgery and Director of Neurotrauma at Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, where he will complete 25 years in 2027. He also serves as Chief of Neurosurgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bethpage. He diagnoses and treats conditions such as back and leg pain, arm and neck pain, sciatica, herniated discs, degenerative disc diseases, spinal stenosis, compression fractures, traumatic brain injuries, spinal and brain tumors, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Dr. Salvatore has received several recognitions, including being named a Top Doctor in America and on Long Island. While practicing in Pennsylvania, he also received the Outstanding Physicians Award. He was one of the founding members of Long Island Brain and Spine and the Interventional Pain Management Group, which provides coordinated, multidisciplinary care. He completed his undergraduate degree at Duquesne University, earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine, and completed his internship and residency at the University of Rochester-Strong Memorial Hospital.
