Dr. Steve Syoen is a higher education administrator and educator with more than 17 years of experience in student development and higher education. He currently serves as Course Coordinator for BUAD 300: Insight, Impact, and Innovation at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Haslam College of Business, where his work focuses on career management, professional development, communication, interviewing, and experiential learning for junior-level undergraduate students.

A former housing professional and SEAHO Corporate Partners Chair, Steve brings a student affairs perspective to career readiness and believes colleges have an opportunity to begin preparing students for their most important post-graduation outcome, meaningful employment, long before their senior year. He earned his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a concentration in adult learning and research focused on how experiential learning through graduate assistantships prepares graduate students for professional practice. While his career has primarily been in higher education administration, Steve has taught or co-taught academic courses for 15 of his 17 years in the field.
