Dr. Duane R. Edgington is a Senior Software Engineer at MBARI, where he applies machine learning and AI to marine imagery and passive-acoustic-monitoring recordings — including building TensorFlow-free PyTorch pipelines for bioacoustic analysis. With a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Harvard GSAS and B.S. degrees in Engineering and Biology from Caltech, his research centers on bringing proven ML methods to marine science and ecology questions relevant to climate change and ocean sustainability.
