Leading Without Drowning: A UX Leader's Survival Guide to the Agentic AI Era

After 20+ years in UX leadership, I've watched executives transform from strategic thinkers into their own execution teams to defining agents, building workflows, and drowning in the process. The fear of falling behind has created a new kind of burnout: agentic overload.

This talk shares my battle-tested framework for leading effectively in the AI era without losing your strategic edge, or your sanity. I'll demonstrate the actual workflow stack I use daily as Director of UX at Galaxy UX Studio: M365 Copilot for priority orchestration, Wispr Flow for voice-first capture, and Gemini with Parallel Tools for research intelligence.

You'll learn:
(1) The Priority Pyramid about how to delegate to AI without becoming your team's executor
(2) Voice-first workflows that preserve strategic thinking
(3) Research intelligence patterns that cure information overload
(4) The Human Override Principle that explains when to trust AI vs. when your judgment matters

This isn't theory. I'll show you the tools, integrations, and decision frameworks that let me run a global UX studio, mentor designers worldwide, speak at conferences, and write books, without working nights and weekends. More importantly, I'll share how this approach impacts team dynamics, client relationships, and organizational culture when leaders model healthy AI adoption.

Whether you're a CTO defining AI strategy or a product leader drowning in agent definitions, you'll leave with immediately applicable patterns for the agentic era.

Dictating Terms - UX for AI & UX by AI

As artificial intelligence saturates products and design workflows, the line between “tool” and “co-designer” is blurring. It’s time for UX leaders to dictate the terms - not just react to AI’s momentum.

This talk reframes the evolving relationship: both how UX design shapes AI and how AI is now shaping the practice and products of UX.

On the “UX for AI” front, I’ll tackle the challenge of building legible, humane, and trustworthy AI-powered products. Human-centered AI is more than state-of-the-art models; it’s about interfaces that expose intent and limits, empower users with control, and foreground outcomes that genuinely matter to people - not metrics that matter to models.

The future belongs to designers who can articulate and enforce these terms before AI “ghosts” into every interface.

Turning the lens inward, “UX by AI” explores how generative and predictive AI are transforming the designer’s own toolkit - autogenerating screen flows, copy, and even research insights.

But here’s the mandate: treat AI’s contributions as raw creative material to be critiqued, iterated, and made accountable - not as infallible oracles. The designer’s ethical, critical, and human judgment must remain the final filter.

If we abdicate agency, AI will silently dictate the boundaries of UX - both for our users and our profession. Let’s flip the script:

UX must dictate the terms, not the other way around.

UX should write the rulebook rather than retrofit guardrails.

Belonging or Breaking Apart? AI, Identity, and the Risk of Social Fragmentation

From hiring algorithms to personalised content feeds, AI technologies are shaping how people are included (or excluded) from society. This panel explores how AI influences identity, social cohesion, and systemic discrimination.

Topics include algorithmic bias, digital accessibility, intergenerational divides, and the fragmentation of cultural narratives. Can we design AI systems that foster inclusion and equity, or are we embedding existing inequalities into our technological future? The panel invites dialogue on how to ensure that no one is left behind in the age of intelligent systems.

Should developing nations build AI from scratch or acquire through technology transfer?

Transfer advocates argue proven solutions can leap-frog development stages. Local innovation champions counter that dependence perpetuates colonialism. Can hybrid models combine speed with sustainability?
