Over a 20 year career, Ed has spent his time working and operating a number of complex data-rich applications. Although my career has toggled between applications architect and data architect, these days I spend most of my time working with data.
Currently I spend my time working in Kerv Digital's Data Enablement team; enabling our customers in their missions by strategizing, scoping, delivering their data platforms with technologies such Power BI, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Fabric and Power Platform.
I'm a runner as well. When I'm not doing data, that I'm likely to be training for my next big race.

How is Microsoft Foundry like Pokémon?
Gotta Catch 'Em All: Building Your AI Agent Team with Microsoft Foundry
Every Pokémon trainer knows you don't win with just one overpowered Charizard—you need a balanced team of specialized agents working together. Microsoft Foundry is your Pokédex and Battle System combined, helping you select, train, and orchestrate AI agents that complement each other's strengths.
The AI and Agentic AI stack is evolving quickly, with options from different vendors. In the blue corner, we now have Microsoft Foundry (formerly AI Foundry) as new kid on the block
In this session, I'll summarise real-world battle scars from building agentic AI solutions with Microsoft Foundry across charity fundraising (donor engagement and impact networks), medical research (literature analysis), and supply chain optimization (logistics and constraint management).
You'll learn:
What Microsoft Foundry actually is—your Professor Oak's lab for AI agents
How to build balanced teams: research agents (Psychic-type), optimization agents (Fighting-type), engagement agents (Fairy-type)
When to deploy which agent type for maximum effectiveness
Patterns for agent orchestration, evolution, and team coordination at scale
Integration with data in SharePoint, Fabric, RAG—teaching your agents new moves
The Team Rocket of AI: hallucinations, infinite loops in optimization, runaway costs
Real battles won and lost: what worked vs what didn't
When to use Foundry vs other tools
Preferred session duration 50 minutes
Target audience - Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Data Architects
First public delivery (material is fresh in the making)
Bender's Brain: How Knowledge Graphs Connect Everything in Fabric IQ
"I'm 40% knowledge graph!" In Futurama, Bender's brain is a chaotic web of memories, skills, and connections that somehow work together. Your Microsoft Fabric platform needs the same thing—a knowledge graph that connects disparate systems, enables context-aware AI, and makes sense of your data universe.
In this session, I'll share real-world learnings from implementing knowledge graphs across charity fundraising (donors, campaigns, impact networks), medical research (studies, treatments, clinical trials), and supply chain operations (suppliers, routes, dependencies)—basically building Bender's brain for your data platform.
You'll learn:
-When knowledge graphs are the right delivery choice vs Lakehouses or Data Warehouses
-How to integrate Fabric IQ to your data
-Patterns for combining graphs with RAG and LLMs: enabling agents to traverse donor relationships, research ontologies, and supply dependencies
-Real implementation: building AI agents that navigate connections like the crew navigates the universe
-The Robot Devils of graph architecture: performance black holes with millions of nodes, cost explosions, schema evolution nightmares
- What worked in production vs what belongs in the Hall of Criminals
- Decision criteria: when graphs unlock value in fundraising, research, or operations vs when they're just expensive wire
Walk away with practical patterns for knowledge graphs that power smarter AI across your Enterprise (shiny metal assistant not included).
