[USA] Thoughts About Growing and Scalability - Bumping up Startup Business with Apache Cassandra
Apache Cassandra was adopted by Movile in 2009, and became a fundamental piece within the robust and scalable architecture to support more than 50 products, impacted by over 200MM users in Latin America. In this case we present the architecture of our ring, configuration details, detailed tuning, hardware used to be able to achieve our performance requirements (order of a few milliseconds), information storage strategies for network and disk space optimization, and best practices, in addition to showing the evolution of the architecture of simple systems to become scalable and distributed platforms. We introduced our cluster with a relatively low number of nodes (6) using commodity hardware to support critical high-performance applications.

[USA] The Versatility of Redis: Powering our critical business using Redis
It shows how to use Redis in more different ways to leverage our systems and services to process millions of transactions a day.
RedisConf 2018, in San Francisco, California, US
It is the premier Redis user conference where Redis contributors and users meet to make big announcements, share use cases, get hands-on training and master key concepts.

[Ireland] Preventing revenue leakage and monitoring distributed systems with machine learning
Have you imagined a simple machine learning solution able to prevent revenue leakage and monitor your distributed application? To answer this question, we offer a practical and a simple machine learning solution to create an intelligent monitoring application based on simple data analysis using Apache Spark MLlib. Our application uses linear regression models to make predictions and check if the platform is experiencing any operational problems that can impact in revenue losses. The application monitor distributed systems and provides notifications stating the problem detected, that way users can operate quickly to avoid serious problems which directly impact the company's revenue and reduce the time for action. We will present an architecture for not only a monitoring system, but also an active actor for our outages recoveries. At the end of the presentation you will have access to our training program source code and you will be able to adapt and implement in your company. This solution already helped to prevent about US$3mi in losses last year

[USA] A change of seasons - A big move to Apache Cassandra
The presentation summarizes Movile's big move to Apache Cassandra from relational databases for three key systems:
1) The subscription and billing system to improve performance, availability, and scalability.
2) The Kiwi user platform to reduce costs and improve throughput.
3) Distributing shared resources across a Cassandra cluster to improve scalability and reduce hardware costs.
The moves resulted in significant cost savings, throughput increases, and more scalable architectures.
