Elvis Kwabena Asare Nkrumah is a Data Scientist and incoming Master's student in Data Science at Bowling Green State University, with a research focus spanning interpretable and uncertainty-aware machine learning for healthcare, climate AI, and computational neuroscience. His recent work includes GIS-based flood risk modelling with the National Geographic Society and The Nature Conservancy to understand Accra's growing exposure to flooding, alongside a machine learning thesis predicting road traffic accident severity using XGBoost and Optuna-tuned models. He's attended the Climate Change AI Summer School, Cohere Labs ML Summer School, and TReND in Africa's CAMINA Summer School in computational neuroscience, reflecting the breadth of problems he's drawn to solve with data.

Alongside his research, Elvis is deeply invested in growing the data science community across Africa. He founded and led the Data Science Wing of UGASS, building it into a 100+ member community and securing 500 DataCamp licenses for members, and currently serves as a Zindi Ambassador, leading data science and AI initiatives across Ghana. As a Tableau Academic Ambassador, he hosted 6+ workshops and competitions that trained 300+ students in data visualisation, and he co-organizes Google Developer Groups on Campus at the University of Ghana. He speaks about the intersection of applied ML research and the grassroots work of building the next generation of data practitioners.
