Eric Phillips resides in Mansfield, TX. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Grambling State University and holds a Master’s in Education Leadership from Concordia University with a Principal Certification.

Eric began his career at Allstate Insurance Company in the claims department. Eric worked for Allstate for 20 years holding many positions and winning various awards one of which was Manager of the Year. He has always been bi-vocational and served the local church in various leadership positions. He was the Youth Minister, Youth Choir Director, and Associate Minister of Worship at Cornerstone Baptist Church for 10 years and in March of 2004, he answered his call to full-time minister and left Allstate to become the full-time Worship Pastor at Rush Creek Church.

In August 2013 Eric began his career in education in the Mansfield Independent School District at Mansfield Summit High School as the Student & Family Engagement Specialist. Eric developed a program for the school, working with the administration, to support students and families in the Mansfield Summit community to ensure student success. This program consisted of parent classes, workshops, working with administration and teachers on absenteeism, working with the dropout population giving them alternative options to graduate, partnering with the Alternative Education Center (Phoenix Academy) supporting students and families with options to prevent repeat visits and creating an environment where families felt welcomed to be a part of the Mansfield Summit High School community.

In March of 2016, Eric took a position in the Arlington Independent School District in the Family and Community Engagement Department as the Family Engagement Specialist. In Arlington Eric oversees the Family Engagement Program for the district where he directs and mentors 10 Family Engagement Liaisons at 10 Secondary Campuses that receive Title I Funding, and 20 Family Engagement Representatives at all other campuses that don’t receive additional funding to ensure families are being engaged. He manages a direct report staff of 3 employees while overseeing the Father & Families initiative that encourages dads, uncles, brothers, and other positive male role models to become more active in their student’s education. He supports the Executive Director in managing district community partnerships and developing districtwide programming that provides students and their families with the necessary support and resources to ensure student success. To create a culture of engagement districtwide Eric develops and provides professional development around family engagement and customer service to district staff, teachers, and administration.

Eric has served and serves on many boards in the area. He is passionate about students, motivating them to see their full potential, and helping them navigate their journey. He works with a local nonprofit presenting workshops on College Preparedness and Financial Aid throughout the DFW metroplex, He has received his Certification in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University and works with the Tarrant County Mental Health Health Coalition Cultural Connection Committee as a trainer of the California Brief Multicultural Competence Scaled (CBMCS) Multicultural Training. His passion is supporting families in the public school district. His “why” centers around providing families with the tools needed to ensure the success of their children while strengthening the family unit with tools to be strong and healthy.

He has been married to Stephanie Craig-Phillips for 38 years and they have 2 sons Myles and Bronson. Myles is a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Musical Theatre who’s in New York living his dream as an actor and Bronson has an Associate of Arts Degree from Tarrant County College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications with a Minor in Kinesiology from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX currently employed doing contract work with Accenture Corporation.
