With decades of dedication in uniform and continued involvement in national defense initiatives, he has consistently demonstrated commitment and professionalism. Through every stage of his journey, he has earned the respect of those who have served alongside him.

He began his military service in 1995 as an enlisted infantryman in the U.S. Army and later received his commission through the Virginia Military Institute. With experience as both an enlisted soldier and an officer, he developed a strong understanding of operational structure and leadership. After completing airborne and Ranger training, he deployed six times to Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Persian Gulf.

During his assignments with the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions, he maintained over ten years of jump status, completing 82 jumps and earning Master Rated Airborne Wings. He led ground operations in Operation Iraqi Freedom and multiple missions in Afghanistan, overseeing the capture of enemy combatants and coordinating complex unit movements under challenging conditions.

In the 82nd Airborne Division, he served as both a Battalion Operations Officer and an Executive Officer, managing units of 830 and 770 personnel, respectively. His performance in logistics, aviation support, intelligence, and training earned him multiple Bronze Stars for excellence in combat environments.

Later in his career, he transitioned to strategic roles at the Pentagon, serving on the staffs of the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Staff, and the Army Staff. As Deputy Director and Chief of the Assessments Branch, he directed planning and capability assessments across various military branches. In his role as Director of Joint Integration, he supported close combat readiness initiatives and helped secure vital funding for research, training, and equipment.

After retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, he moved into civilian roles focused on defense-related business development and community leadership. He remains committed to serving beyond uniform through nonprofit and local initiatives. Above all, he values his family, considering his marriage and daughter his proudest accomplishments. Eric Schnabel continues to be guided by the principles that shaped his life of service.
