Esa Joffel is Finland’s sole nuclear cybersecurity lead inspector in Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority in Finland (STUK), responsible for regulatory oversight of Information security in the nuclear energy sector in Finland. He plays now a leading role in evaluating the cybersecurity maturity (IT&OT) of Finnish nuclear facilities.

Esa is actively involved in the renewal of Finland’s national nuclear regulatory framework, mentoring Finnish Nuclear powerplant operators and participates in several International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) working groups focused on the development of international nuclear security and cybersecurity guidance.

Esa also contributes to international cooperation through his memberships in the European Nuclear Security Regulators Association (ENSRA), the World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS), and the IAEA SMR Regulators’ Forum, where he focuses on cybersecurity.
