I am originally from San Francisco, CA. I have a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins and spent over a decade in academics with a final stop as an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech. I then gracefully(?) bowed out of academics (ie didn't get tenure) and became a "Data Scientist" in 2013, and have not looked back. While using Python very sparingly in my academic days (former MATLAB user here), Python has become my primary language over the past decade.
