Complicated Simplicity

Agile is a simple mindset based on a paradigm of methods, practices, principles, and values, so why are organizations struggling to transform? Transformation is the complex result of an organization's attributes and environments, and adaptive change is critical to success.
In this session, I will introduce the theory of Complex Adaptive Systems (CAS)-- systems that change their behavior in response to their environment. Adaptive change is often critical to achieving transformation goals and objectives. I will also shed light on the attributes of an Agile transformation (human habits, organizational culture, pyramidal command structure, sociology of the organization, bureaucracy, etc) and relate them back to CAS.
To fully understand the magnitude of an Agile transformation, this presentation associates the overall Agile transformation to a CAS and, demonstrating the important role that adaptability plays in an organization's ability to have a successful outcome.
After this session, you will grasp the complexity of an organizational Agile transformation and leave with a solid understanding of CAS and how to apply the theory when guiding an organization through a transformation.
