Felipe Riola-Parada studied architecture, structural and timber engineering at the Spanish universities of A Coruña and Santiago de Compostela. He got his doctoral degree at the Vienna University of Technology.
After his studies he worked several years both as an architect and as a structural engineer in Spain. During 2011 he moved to the Vienna University of Technology, where he worked at the Institute of Architectural Sciences, Department of Structural Design and Timber Engineering.
Since October 2020 he is Professor of Structural Design and Statics at the University of Wuppertal in Germany.
His main research topics are Architecture and Structures, Timber Construction and Timber-Based Hybrid Structures (Timber-Steel / Timber-Concrete) and Digital and Parametric Structural Design.
