Dr. Ferdin Don Bosco is a seasoned aerospace engineer with a decade of academic research experience. He holds a Master's degree from IIT Kanpur and a PhD from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, UK. His postdoctoral research at Heriot-Watt University and IISc Bangalore further solidified his expertise in numerical modeling and high-performance computing.
Dr. Don Bosco is renowned for his contributions to computational fluid dynamics, high-speed rarefied gas dynamics, micro-flows, geological flows, granular mechanics, and reactor engineering. He has successfully applied his knowledge to a wide range of projects, including space capsule re-entry, offshore oil prospecting, and iron-making blast furnace optimization.
A key focus of Dr. Don Bosco's research has been the development of highly efficient heterogeneous computing solvers. His solvers have been benchmarked on some of the world's most powerful supercomputers, such as ARCHER in the UK and Param Pravega in India.
Dr. Don Bosco is currently exploring the potential of quantum computing to address complex engineering problems. He is particularly interested in incorporating quantum thoughts and techniques to solve partial differential equations and applying quantum-inspired algorithms to solve optimization problems that are difficult to tackle with classical computers. At BQP, he is focused on optimizing the use of classical computing resources for quantum-inspired algorithms and exploring avenues for seamless integration between classical HPC facilities and NISQ-era quantum computers.
