Securing Microservices under 40 minutes with MicroProfile & Okta!

Implementing the correct security patterns is a common challenge that most application developers and consultants can get wrong in even the most common of scenarios. Reinventing the wheel is a common pattern that DevOps engineers do when integrating security solutions inside their applications (authentication, password validation, identity management, correct storage of user data, etc.). Okta is an identity management service and API provider that focuses on off-loading this burden from DevOps engineers’ shoulders, allowing them to focus on the business aspects of their applications.

This talk will focus on the benefits of using such a service with an enterprise application, with a live demonstration of a small application that uses the Eclipse MicroProfile APIs to correctly integrate it with Okta’s API.

Securing Microservices under 40 minutes with MicroProfile & Keycloak!

Keycloak is an open-source identity management solution that focuses on offloading this burden from DevOps engineers, allowing them to focus on the business aspects of their applications and simplifying their solutions in the long run.

This talk will focus on the benefits of using such a service with an enterprise application, with a live demonstration of a small application that uses the Eclipse MicroProfile APIs to correctly integrate it with Keycloak by way of the OpenIDConnect standards.

Participants will be required to know in advance the following concepts (level of knowledge recommended):

* OpenID Connect & OAuth2
* JSON Web Tokens

OpenIDConnect has finally come to Jakarta EE!

What developer never has heard about OAuth 2.0? What about OpenID Connect? Are they aware that OpenID Connect allows simplified user identity management in an easy way? If so, they’ll be delighted to know that the standard is officially supported in Jakarta EE 10 and that it’s pretty easy to use!

Do you know how a Jakarta EE cloud-native application looks?

Jakarta EE 10 has arrived and along with Eclipse MicroProfile, it has paved the way for Enterprise Java developers to develop easy-to-maintain, powerful applications that can be deployed on almost any environment.

Jakarta EE applications can now be cloud-native applications and they should no longer be constrained by how they used to look 15~20 years ago. DevOps engineers will greatly benefit from this talk in which we’ll analyse the anatomy of a Jakarta EE application that’s geared to be cloud-native, and how these applications can benefit using standards to their benefit and longevity.

Target Audience: DevOps Engineers, Architects
