I lead software- and systems development in open data and open science, with a focus on ethics and curation. I am fascinated by the frontiers of human progress: innovation vs ignorance; wealth vs poverty, migration vs stasis. I spent more than a decade in economic and business development initiatives in South Africa before moving to the UK where I entered the fledgling open knowledge industry, going on to lead open data technical and research projects around the world, including Pakistan, Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania, Mauritius, Australia and in Europe and the Americas. I have extensive experience in leading research projects, implementing open source software initiatives, and developing and leading seminars and workshops. I am currently an Interledger Ambassador and a previously-funded ILF grantee for my Qwyre.com epub reader app.
