Born in Kindu in 1999, Gilbert Bemwiz discovered computing at age 14 through mobile video games. Despite having an aptitude for mathematics, he chose the Computer Commerce program out of pure passion for technology.

At 16, his interest in tech led him to experiment - sometimes to the point of "crashing" phones! Graduating in 2017, he joined the first cohort at MAPON University where, finding the curriculum too general, he embarked on intensive self-directed learning in the computer lab.

In 2019, he co-created "Busoga," a local social network. In 2021, his "intelligent virtual ophthalmologist" project won an innovation award. Confronted with the lack of medical data adapted to the Congolese context, this field experience led him to develop "Tradition Learning."

Today, as an assistant at ISTA-Kindu, freelancer, and Data & ML Engineer Intern at Neotex.ai DRC, he shares his passion for AI adapted to African realities.

Né à Kindu en 1999, Gilbert Bemwiz découvre l'informatique à 14 ans par les jeux vidéo mobiles. Malgré des prédispositions en maths, il choisit la filière Commerciale Informatique par passion.

À 16 ans, son intérêt pour la tech le pousse à expérimenter - parfois jusqu'à faire "planter" des téléphones ! Diplômé en 2017, il intègre la première promotion de l'Université MAPON où, déçu par le cursus trop généraliste, il se lance dans un apprentissage autodidacte intensif au labo informatique.

En 2019, il co-crée "Busoga", un réseau social local. En 2021, son projet d'ophtalmologue virtuel intelligent remporte un prix d'innovation. Confronté au manque de données médicales adaptées au contexte congolais, cette expérience terrain le conduit à développer "Tradition Learning".

Aujourd'hui assistant à l'ISTA-Kindu, freelance et Data & ML Engineer Intern chez Neotex.ai DRC, il partage sa passion pour une IA adaptée aux réalités africaines."
