Giulio Masotti is an architect and entrepreneur based in Milan, Italy. He founded the digital fabrication startup WOOD-SKIN, renowned for its innovative surfaces and materials for interior design and architecture, and the creative engineering and art studio Mammafotogramma. Giulio's academic journey includes an architecture degree from Politecnico di Milano, supplemented by exchange programs at ETSA in Granada, Spain, and McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

In 2019, Giulio co-founded MATEREA, a pioneering startup dedicated to developing robotic processes for digital craftsmanship in the fashion and design industries. This initiative showcases his commitment to blending cutting-edge technology with traditional craftsmanship.

Giulio holds an international patent for the Wood-Skin® fabrication process, granted in 12 countries. His professional acclaim includes speaking engagements at venues like FROG’s Creative Morning in Milan, Politecnico di Milano, North Modern in Copenhagen, and the Biennale di Venezia. He regularly conducts workshops at the European Institute of Design (IED) and the University Institute for Modern Languages (IULM), fostering innovation and creativity among students.

Under his leadership, WOOD-SKIN has been instrumental in creating some of the world’s most complex wooden surfaces, including a 1000 sqm ceiling for the United Nations in Geneva.
Meanwhile, Mammafotogramma operates as a team of creative engineers or "Imagineers," collaborating with luxury brands such as Dior and Louis Vuitton to deliver unique kinetic design solutions with a mix of traditional crafts, mechatronics, and digital crafts.

Giulio's work has been internationally recognized and featured in prestigious exhibitions like the Venice Biennale, Triennale di Milano, and Salone del Mobile, as well as at the Centre Pompidou, Toronto Film Festival, and Cannes. His entrepreneurial and design prowess has earned him a spot in Wired Magazine’s 'Top 100 Most Promising Entrepreneurs in Italy'.
