You would have bank migrated to cloud before a secure application on edge

Security is crucial for developers! with applications becoming more complex across both IoT can Cloud along with the ever-expanding landscape of developer tools to enable this. In this session, we cover a migration story of two sides; One a traditional application in a highly regulated environment and the second a connected IoT application. We look at both use cases from the developer's perspective, the tooling, knowledge and what it's like to develop and modernize such applications. You'll never look at secure banking or a secured IoT application the same way again ;)

The Just-in-Time Cloudlet: An Integrated Cloud-Native Network and Edge Development Platform

Inspecting electric grids with drones, searching for a lost child, or hosting a backcountry ski event -- just a few cases with a need to temporarily deploy edge compute and communication infrastructure in areas with poor network coverage. They require the ability to connect mobile devices and access sophisticated applications hosted on nearby computing resources. Until recently, these use cases have required custom hardware and software, restrictive communication spectrum licenses, and the expertise to integrate them. Recent breakthroughs have enabled a new model -- the Just-in-Time Cloudlet, a highly integrated, lightweight, low power platform built from COTS hardware and open-source software – with an integrated private mobile network and use case specific applications. This tutorial will show how to deploy this solution in a Kubernetes environment and demonstrate an example application that shows the power of a 5G/4G+ edge developer platform with a cloud-native implementation.
