Hawra Milani is a cybersecurity researcher and practitioner, currently serving as a Cyber Vulnerabilities and Research Lead within the UK Civil Service. Her academic work sits at the intersection of technology, ethics, and inclusion, driven by a deep commitment to advancing cybersecurity research and fostering diversity within the tech community.

With experience on Meta’s Social Impact team and through her leadership in Google’s community programmes across the UK and Iraq, Hawra has championed pathways for underrepresented groups to thrive in technology. Her current research explores cybersecurity, AI safety, and the protection of vulnerable populations, reflecting her mission to make digital spaces safer and more equitable.

Hawra holds a BSc in Computer Science, a PGCE in Computer Science, an MA in Computing Education, and an MSc in Information Security. She is passionate about empowering the next generation to grow as innovators and leaders in STEM.
