Based in Munich, Hector has developed an international profile as a subject matter expert in the healthcare and social sectors. With almost 30 years of experience as a physician in social security fields, he combines medical expertise with social policy making, operational management, and strategic leadership.
Currently serving as the Chief Health Officer at Cúram by Merative, Hector holds global responsibility for research, strategy, and market development in areas such as Workers' Compensation Insurance, Long-Term Care, Healthcare, and Coordinated Health & Social Outcomes (CHSO). He drives strategic initiatives, identifies innovative best practices, develops them into business models, and promotes their success worldwide, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence and industry solution in healthcare and social protection.
Prior to his role at Cúram by Merative, Hector spent 10 years at IBM Watson Health. Previously, he worked at the Workers' Compensation Unit of Munich Reinsurance Company in Munich, Germany. Before this he worked for the Government reporting to the Ministry of Labor.
Hector holds a Doctorate in Medicine from University CES and is currently a doctor candidate at Universität zu Lübeck in Germany. He also possesses a European Master's degree in Social Security from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. In addition, he has completed postgraduate studies in Project Management and Occupational Safety and Health Management. Hector serves as a visiting professor at University CES, an invited professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Rosenheim, Germany, and a lecturer at the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Hector is an author, co-author, and contributor to various blogs, papers, and publications.
