Rebranding Accounting: Lessons From REFRAME
The accounting profession is at a crossroads. With AI automating compliance tasks and clients increasingly saying “good enough,” accountants can no longer rely on accuracy alone to define their value. At REFRAME, thought leaders Hector and Carlos Garcia explore what it really means to rebrand accounting, drawing inspiration from Chris Do - A well known thought leader in the Personal Branding space. This is not about logos or marketing. It is about meaning, story, and identity.
Rebranding means shifting the perception of accountants from conservative, compliance-driven “historians of numbers” to creative, forward-looking advisors who help shape the future. It requires moving services from commodity to story, embracing personal branding as a force multiplier, and leaning into authenticity and differentiation. These are the quirks, vulnerabilities, and unique perspectives that make you memorable. Most importantly, it means transcending technology by focusing on what AI cannot replicate. Judgment, creativity, and transformational outcomes.
This session distills the most important lessons from REFRAME and equips you with practical ways to reshape both your personal brand and your firm’s reputation. You will be seen not as “just an accountant,” but as an indispensable partner in growth and innovation.
How Accounting Pros are using AI today
In this 100-minute session, “How Accounting Pros are Using AI Today,” we will take a practical walk through the leading AI and large language model (LLM) platforms, with a focus on how they can be applied to real accounting tasks. From drafting client emails and memos to summarizing financial data, generating checklists, and assisting with technical research, AI tools are quickly becoming a valuable part of the modern accountant’s toolkit.
Participants will begin by learning the landscape of major platforms: ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Gemini, Intuit Assist, and others... and what distinguishes each in terms of functionality, accuracy, and integration with existing software. We will highlight how early adopters in the accounting profession are currently leveraging these platforms to improve efficiency, accuracy, and client communication.
By the end of the session, you will be equipped to identify which tasks in your own practice are best suited for AI support, evaluate the return on investment of these tools, and design a low-risk pilot for implementing AI in your workflows. The goal is to leave you with a clear understanding of both the opportunities and the limitations; so you can confidently experiment with AI while maintaining the professional standards and judgment your clients rely on.
Advanced AI Experimentations
As AI platforms continue to evolve, accounting professionals have a unique opportunity to not only use AI but to build with it. In “Advanced AI Experimentations,” Hector Garcia, CPA and creator of the widely used Chrome extension RightTool, will guide participants into the next frontier: using AI as a personal software developer.
This session introduces the concept of “vibe coding”; a practical framework for collaborating with AI to generate scripts, workflow automations, and even lightweight applications without needing to learn traditional programming. If you have ever wished an app “just had a button for this,” you will learn how to create that button yourself, with the help of AI.
Through demonstrations and hands-on examples, you will see how AI can write functional snippets of code to: Automate repetitive browser tasks, Customize interfaces in accounting platforms like QuickBooks Online, and Build a starter Chrome extension that transforms your workflow.
Hector will draw on his experience building RightTool: an app now used by thousands of accounting professionals; to show how experimentation, iteration, and smart prompting can turn ideas into working solutions. Along the way, participants will learn how to evaluate AI-generated scripts for accuracy, troubleshoot common errors, and ensure security when deploying tools in a professional environment.
