Worked as a Java developer for 10+ years and as System/Infra Engineer for 8+ years. Heba graduated from Computer Engineering Cairo University, Egypt and lives with her two adorable daughters in CA. The Cloud-Native Workloads Journey Through the CNCF Tag-Runtime
In this session, we will cover the following:
1) How to get involved with CNCF TAG-Runtime.
2) Overview of CNCF open source projects that enable running cloud native workloads.
3) The latest on the TAG working groups, including topics like:
a. Progress in the WASM working group.
b. Latest in the Edge IoT space.
c. Enhancements to large-scale Kubernetes batch jobs.
d. Updates on container interfaces with hardware devices.
e. New TAG working groups on the horizon.
4) Future trends in cloud-native technologies within the TAG scope (such as running and serving LLMs and WebAssembly).
After the session, attendees will understand the CNCF landscape comprehensively within the realms of workloads and runtime. They will also be informed about the latest developments and learn how to actively contribute to open source projects and the CNCF community.
WG-Workload Aware Scheduling: An Introduction
The Kubernetes community has been hard at work enhancing the scheduling of workloads. In 2026, the community started adding support for workload aware scheduling and this work was eventually folded into a working group. In this session, we will highlight the APIs added, provide details on the in-tree roadmap and the goal of the working group with respect to the ecosystem.
We will discuss the integrations with Kueue and popular workload controllers like JobSet. This session will provide the roadmap and future plans for the working group. We are also looking for engagement from the community.

WAS/TAS/Scheduling/Auto-scaling Summit at KubeCon NA
Workload-aware Scheduling working group would like to host a design workshop (summit) similar to the ones were hosted by Google in the last two KubeCon. The first half will be an update and presentation / Q&A style, and the second half will unstructured for break out sessions.
