Hideyuki Takei is a Tokyo-based engineer and founder of HAPT Lab, specializing in the intersection of AI, hardware, and real-world systems. He holds a Master’s degree in engineering from Toyohashi University of Technology, where he focused on Human-Robot Interaction, and received an academic award from the Human Interface Society of Japan.
He began his career at KLab, working in R&D on new product development, and later joined Yukai Engineering, where he worked on BLE-based hardware devices. He then co-founded Beatrobo, Inc. in Japan and the United States, serving as CTO and leading the development of all products and services. His work includes patented inventions across Japan, the US, and China.
After Beatrobo, he joined the US-based startup studio All Turtles as a software and hardware engineer, contributing to multiple AI-driven products. He also worked at Tellus You Care, a US-based company focused on AI-powered eldercare, where he served as a Principal Software & Hardware Engineer, building systems that integrate AI with real-world sensing.
He is currently involved in the design and development of IoT systems deployed at scale, including over 4,000 connected devices in Japan, as well as various AI-powered products. His expertise spans full-stack software development (Python, JavaScript, cloud systems) and hardware engineering, including circuit design, embedded systems, 3D CAD, and mass production.
His current work focuses on building AI-powered physical products that bridge digital intelligence and the real world.
