Dr. Harpreet Singh is a Scientist-G and Programme Officer at the Indian Council of Medical Research–National Institute for Research in Digital Health, New Delhi. With over 23 years of experience, his work brings together bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, computational biology and the development of digital infrastructure for public health.

Formerly Head of ICMR's Division of Biomedical Informatics, he has led and coordinated more than 30 national digital-health platforms spanning COVID-19 surveillance, antimicrobial resistance, leprosy, rare diseases and other disease registries. During India's COVID-19 response, he contributed to national data systems supporting surveillance and analysis at an unprecedented scale, including 188 million tests involving 176 million individuals.

His current research focuses on AI-ready biomedical datasets, agentic and multi-agent AI systems, trustworthy agent-to-agent communication, privacy-preserving health analytics, and the real-world evaluation and governance of clinical AI. He is a contributor to the MIDAS initiative for quality-graded medical datasets, published in Nature Medicine, and to ICMR's ethical guidance for AI in biomedical research and healthcare.

Dr. Singh earned his PhD in Bioinformatics from Jawaharlal Nehru University and undertook postdoctoral research at Cornell University. He is Professor at the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research, adjunct faculty at JNU, and an Associate of Harvard University's Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute, where he held a DHR–ICMR International Fellowship in 2025.

With more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and over 5,600 citations and an h-index of 35, he brings together the perspectives of a computational scientist, a national programme leader and a researcher examining the future of autonomous science. His talks explore how AI can move beyond promising demonstrations to become reliable, accountable and equitable infrastructure for healthcare and scientific discovery.
