I'm a Data Scientist with a specialization in NLP. In my free time, apart from my career, you will find me learning or impacting lives.

How to Contribute to Open Source as a Data Scientist

One thing that is common in the software engineering world is the term open source, but another thing I've noticed is despite being common most folks in the environment of data (data analyst, data scientist, data engineers, etc.) tend to dread away from it and thinking contributing and collaborating on open sources is meant for people in the web and mobile development stack (e.g. frontend devs, back-end devs, etc.). True, it is uncommon to find projects to collaborate on as a data scientist/analyst in the data space, as those in the web space do, but we still fall under the software engineering world and must find one or two things to engage in.
My talk will be based on how people in the data space can contribute to open source either through, but not limited to, technical writing, sharing of ideas on social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter telegram, and Communicating and collaborating with peers in the data space. Also, I'm going to walk the audience in-depth into some of those points, for instance, the sharing of ideas and how they can earn money through technical writing.
