Development in Cloud: Skaffold and Cloud Workstations in Action
In a complex microservice architecture, developers typically spend up to weeks in order to get their local development working on a microservice. Once they have the local setup working, they still need to consider how their service runs locally to interact with other services in the microservice which probably running on cloud. Oftentimes, these services are isolated in different networks and might not be reachable locally thus increasing development complexity.
This talk will discuss how combining Skaffold and Google Cloud Workstations can simplify application development workflow in an organization. Cloud Workstations, recently announced in Next 22 as part of Software Delivery Shield, will provide developers with a configurable, secure, and easy-to-use development environment instantly. Meanwhile, Skaffold will simplify microservice development and testing in a production-like environment before the code gets pushed to the code repository and triggers CI/CD pipeline.
This talk will provide a brief introduction to these technologies and a live demo to show how they work in the microservice architecture.
Google DevFest 2022 - Yangon
This talk discussed about the challenges in the traditional application development lifecycle and how it is not suitable for developing applications run in cloud and Kubernetes. As part of this talk, I introduced Cloud Workstations and Skaffold and demonstrate how these technologies can simplify app development in enterprises.

Title: Instrumentation With OpenTelemetry: Write once Observe Everywhere. This talk discussed the needs and basics of application instrumentation. Instrumentation can also be simplified by using OpenTelemetry since we can write the code for instrumentation once but observe it in many platforms of choice. Bangkit Guest Speaker 2022
Discussed how to design cloud networking architecture across Google Cloud and AWS to student of Bangkit Program. Bangkit is learning program brought by multiple companies in Indonesia for university students in Indonesia. This program was supported by Google, Gojek, Tokedia, etc.
Kubecon North America 2021
Gopay, one of the biggest payments companies in South East Asia, processes transactions worth billions of dollars, with peak scale of more than 15000 financial transactions per minute. Gopay has heavily adopted Kubernetes to run its hundreds of microservices and has very recently migrated to a service mesh based architecture. As we grow, our infrastructure was becoming more complex and fragmented, our engineers less productive. Instead of writing code, teams were constantly interrupted by migration requests and spending more time looking for the right information just to get started. "Why do I need to migrate to newer helm chart again, I just upgraded it!" "This service isn’t responding, who owns it?" This talk will guide you how we fulfilled those challenges and fasten service mesh adoption through a developer friendly platform. The platform simplifies end-to-end software development with an abstraction layer that sits on top of our infrastructure and developer tooling.
