A Deep Dive into AWS Global Databases

In today's globalized world, applications require data to be accessible, scalable, and performant across geographical boundaries. This presentation explores the power of AWS Global Databases, a suite of services designed to empower businesses to manage their data at scale, regardless of location. We'll delve into the benefits of using AWS for global database solutions, including:
High Availability and Scalability and reduced latency and simplified management

How to 101: Decommission 5+ year old legacy apps

Previously I worked on a Data Lake project, where numerous data applications and associated infrastructure had been created over the span of 5+ years. Unfortunately to me, some of these applications were no longer developed, they had been abandoned/moved and to my horror the original developers and devops were no longer part of the project. In addition to everything, the lack of documentation from the client's side, made it challenging, almost impossible, to understand the purpose of the infrastructure and applications.
This is the story of how I managed to decomission 5+ year old data applications and infrastructure that resulted in significant cost and energy savings.

AWS Lambda workshop

In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to use the AWS Lambda service to run code without managing infrastructure. We will deploy a simple serverless application and use it to explore Lambda functions' behavior, and how to safely update to your functions.

You will learn most from this workshop if you have built Lambda functions as experimentations or for learning, or if you already have functions in production and want to learn more about that service.

This workshop uses Python for creating Lambda function, and AWS SAM to define infrastructure. While knowledge of Python is not necessary to complete this workshop, knowing how to create functions and some of the core libraries will help understand what those functions do. Similarly, you don't need to know AWS CloudFormation or AWS SAM, but some knowledge will help.

This workshop is designed to teach you the following:

How to build and deploy AWS Lambda functions using infrastructure as code
How Lambda functions scale
How to use concurrency controls for Lambda functions
How to do safe and progessive deployments for Lambda functions

Nanocl: Our Open Source Story

Nanocl, born from the grounds of a study project, became something more than just that.
Now it is more than just code; it's the narrative of our growth.
It all began when a vision sparked within us, we saw a problem and decided to code Nanocl, the Rust alternative of Kubernetes. Since then, the project has taught us the power of open source, building a community and important lessons in Distributed computing.
This is our story of learning and maturing, with power of open source.

Sustainability for workloads in Google Cloud

Sustainability in the cloud is the continuous dedication to primarily decrease energy usage and optimize efficiency across all aspects of workloads.

Assuming the responsibility for your emissions embodies ethical values, cost-efficiency, regulatory compliance, and environmental impact awareness.
It also reflects your commitment to being the part of the solution rather than contributing to the problem.

In this talk you will learn about design principles, best-practices, potential trade-offs, and improvement plans you can use to meet sustainability targets for your Google Cloud workloads.

Exploring Firecracker

In this talk, you will learn about Firecracker, the MicroVM technology behind AWS Lambda.
We'll compare traditional hypervisors, containers, and MicroVMs, examine the architecture of Firecracker, and explore its use cases.

Exploring Firecracker

Learn about the technology behind AWS Lambda, explore use cases for Firecracker and learn difference between Hypervisors, containers and MicroVMs.
