Islam Elfiky has built his professional life around athletics, healthcare technology, and hospitality. Based in New York, he is an entrepreneur and business developer who serves as Co-Founder and Head of Business Development at MedsNow. His career reflects a steady focus on creating useful businesses, shaped by years of squash competition and a family background connected to healthcare in Egypt.

He grew up in Cairo, where squash became an important part of his early life. As a junior, he was selected for the Egyptian National Team during a time when it held the world’s top ranking. He later reached a personal world men’s ranking of 165th. After studying at the American University in Cairo, he moved to the United States to continue his education and athletic career at The George Washington University.

At George Washington, he played at the No. 1 position on the men’s squash team for two seasons. His 2011-12 season included 21 wins and three losses, with 19 victories coming in straight sets. He finished the season with a 15-match winning streak, earned the team’s Most Valuable Player award, and was named Male Athlete of the Year at the first Georgey Awards. He also ended the year ranked 31st nationally.

The prior season showed the same consistency. In 2010-11, he played every match at No. 1 and finished with 18 wins and two losses. Every win came in straight sets, and he ended the season ranked 34th in the College Squash Association. Those two top-35 national finishes made him one of the notable players in the program’s history. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 2014.

Islam Elfiky first moved into business through squash. From 2014 to 2016, he co-founded Squash on Fire, a Washington, D.C., project created to offer a high-end squash facility with public access instead of private membership. The facility opened in 2017 and gave him direct experience developing a business from concept to operation.

Since 2020, his main work has been MedsNow, which he co-founded with Nikhil Misra. The company helps independent pharmacies use digital tools for online sales, compliance, patient onboarding, invoicing, payment collection, and receivables management. MedsNow was selected for XRC Labs’ Cohort 14, appeared at XRC Ventures’ 2023 Demo Day, and received support from the XRC Ventures Accelerator Program and Reshape Ventures.

He has also expanded into hospitality through Yalla Hospitality, where he is developing a venture tied to restaurants and guest experience. This work reflects his interest in service-based businesses and his ability to apply business development experience in different industries.

Islam Elfiky remains connected to Egypt through his family’s hospital business, which is known for social work and community care. His volunteering and charitable efforts are also centered there. Across sports, pharmacy technology, hospitality, and community service, he continues to build with patience, discipline, and long-term focus.
