Blockchain: The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu of Web 3.0

This session will cover the fundamentals of Blockchain, private chains, public chains, and mining. The presenter will provide an example of architecting a private Blockchain along with a discussion of the future of Blockchain.

Be a "Scrapy" Scraper: Extracting Data from a Protected Website

This session will discuss web scraping as a means of data collection and provide an example. Using the Python Scrapy package, we will explore how to extract data from a website requiring login credentials. The session will also include a discussion about the ethics of web scraping.

Blockchain: The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu of Web 3.0

This session will cover the fundamentals of blockchain, private chains, public chains, and mining. The presenter will provide an example of deploying a private ethereum-based private blockchain along with a discussion of the future of blockchain.

Extreme Gradient Boosting and Tuning XGBoost hyperparameters

This session will cover how automated hyperparameter tuning for an XGBoost model works within a scikit-learn pipeline. XGBoost helps Data Scientists to make some of the most powerful well-tuned machine learning models today in an automated, reproducible manner.

Hashing: The Cornerstone of Blockchain Security and Data Integrity

In the digital world, ensuring data integrity and security is paramount, and one of the key tools used to achieve this is hashing. A hash function takes an input, such as a message or file, and returns a fixed-size string of bytes, typically a digest that appears random. This output, or hash value, is unique to each input, making it a fundamental building block in various areas of computer science, including data security, blockchain technology, and password storage. Programmatic hashing examples will be provided in Python.

Prompt Engineering: How to not get caught cheating with ChatGPT

AI is everywhere and it is helping us be more productive. This session will focus on engineering AI prompts to help us get what we actually want and make it look more like our original work and less like an AI generated response.

Rent my Yacht: Using Solidity to create a Smart Contract

Ever wanted to see the power of blockchain in action? In this session, we’ll demonstrate how to build a fully functional smart contract in Solidity using a fun, real-world scenario: renting a yacht. We’ll walk through each step, from setting up your development environment and writing basic Solidity code, to compiling, testing, and deploying on the Ethereum blockchain. Whether you’re new to Ethereum or already dabbling in decentralized applications, you’ll leave with a hands-on understanding of how smart contracts can transform traditional business models. Come see how easy, and exciting, it can be to harness blockchain technology for practical use cases!
