As the Global Director of Solution Engineering at 1NCE, I lead a team of experts who engineer and support customers on best practices and utilizing the 1NCE technology. 1NCE is an IoT software company that delivers IoT-like electricity – accessible and ready for consumption by companies, cities, and governments in nearly 160 countries. My mission is to enable organizations to access powerful data insights through IoT easily.

I have 10+ years of experience in IoT, Cloud Architecture, Big Data, and Project Management. I am AWS certified and proficient in various technologies and tools, such as GitLab, Terraform, Kafka, Kinesis, EMQ-X, Python, NodeJS, Serverless Framework, DynamoDB, and more. I have a strong background in product management and innovation, having worked as a Head of Product and a Product Manager at 1NCE and as an Analyst of New Technologies & Services at HeidelbergCement. I have designed and implemented end-to-end analytics platforms, built disruptive managed connectivity and IoT services, and published articles and blogs on IoT topics. I am passionate about creating customer value and transforming businesses with data-driven solutions.

Automated Device Provisioning to AWS IoT Core Using Cellular Connectivity

Internet of Things (IoT) requires reliable and secure connectivity from wireless networks to share data. Connecting an IoT device to the cloud with long-range wireless technology that can operate reliably for up to 10 years on a single battery charge is becoming popular.
This is especially true in various high-scaling use cases like smart cities, smart meters, asset tracking, smart agriculture, smart building, and various other industrial applications.
AWS IoT Core offers managed cloud services to ingest trillions of messages from billions of devices and easily and securely interact with other AWS cloud services and other devices.
In high-scaling use cases, high-throughput standards like 5G-NR (>1Gbps) or LTE-Advanced (300Mbps) are an overkill. Instead, these remote and sometimes mobile applications need low-power, narrowband standards such as LTE Cat 1, LTE-M, and NB-IoT.
Such cellular Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technology supports data transfer in small, infrequent data packets ranging in size from 10-1000 bytes at speeds of < 375Kbps.
In this talk, I will describe how complexity can be taken out of IoT projects and how you can overcome cellular IoT adoptions' challenges. As a foundation, I will use the Global IoT SIM and the Connectivity Suite build by 1NCE.

Building a scalable SaaS Platform and customer Onboarding on AWS with the Serverless Framework

Internet of Things (IoT) requires reliable and secure connectivity from wireless networks to share data. Connecting an IoT device to the cloud with long-range wireless technology that can operate reliably for up to 10 years on a single battery charge is becoming popular.
1NCE is are building a SaaS platform to support customers to take the complexity out of IoT projects and overcome the challenges of cellular IoT adoption.
1NCE is an AWS Advanced Technology Partner that offers managed connectivity services for low bandwidth IoT applications.
While building our solution, we have faced various challenges and hurdles on best connecting Customer's AWS Environments in a highly automated way. Following best practices, we have found a reliable solution utilizing the Serverless Framework and AWS Services. The solution is highly efficient, scalable, and cost-effective. But there is always room to reinvent it further.

Asset Tracking Solution designed for low-cost and low-power applications

Using AWS Location Services and AWS IoT to build an asset-tracking solution designed for low-cost and low-power applications. Combined with cellular-based tracking rather than GPS, allowing for high-performance tracking globally while keeping the lowest possible energy footprint.
This session covers the overall technical setup and digs into the considerations along the design process and limitations on cellular tracking.
Built on top of AWS Services and the 1NCE Network, it allows everyone to spin up a quick prototype.

Building a scalable LPWAN IoT Use Case using the 1NCE IoT Flat Rate and the AWS IoT Core

Many predictions about the growth of the Internet of Things have been made in the past. When it comes to the sheer number of connected devices worldwide, many of these predictions were too optimistic.
The complexity of the Internet of Things, the vast amount of standards, protocols, regional differences in terms of regulation and availability of networks have probably made it grow more slowly than some might have expected.
Still, the Internet of Things is changing the world and will continue to do so. With more affordable, reliable and standardized solutions available, we are at the tipping point of the final breakthrough.
In this session, we demonstrate a scalable LPWAN IoT Platform leveraging the 1NCE network and AWS IoT Core.
The newest feature called the 1NCE IoT Connectivity Suite represents a comprehensive set of IoT services that have been developed in close collaboration with AWS. The 1NCE Data Integration Layer as part of the Connectivity Suite helps customers to integrate and manage their IoT devices equipped with 1NCE connectivity more efficiently into the AWS cloud environment.
I will present how customers can connect their devices with AWS even more efficiently utilizing integration efforts and data/protocol economics. By supporting even leaner protocols such as CoAP, UDP and UDP with binary conversion, communication of devices consumes less bandwidth and can extend the battery life up to twice as much compared to using the MQTT protocol.
The presented reference architecture will help customers to successfully and rapidly build a scalable IoT Platform fulfilling all needs for LPWAN use cases.
