Dr Jane Thomason is Chair of the World Metaverse Council & is a Thinkers 360 Top 10 Global Thought Leaders & Influencers on Sustainability, HealthTech & Blockchain. She currently holds distinguished roles on the editorial boards of 3 peer reviewed journals and an Industry Associate: University College London, Centre for Blockchain. She is author of “Blockchain for Global Social Change,” “Applied Ethics in a Digital World” and has “Advancements in the New World of Web 3: A Look Toward the Decentralized Future” in press. She was named as one of 8 metaverse experts to follow and top 100 women in Web 3 and Metaverse and Top 25 Women in Fintech and Blockchain, MENA. Jane was featured by CNN on "Decoding the secrets of the metaverse." She is also known for her work on Blockchain and Sustainability and recently developed a course curriculum for the SEE Institute Dubai on “Blockchain for Climate Action.”

Life in the Metaverse
Metaverse is a futuristic concept combining various technologies, including computer infrastructure, gaming, NFTs, DeFi, AR/VR, and the spatial web. There are more than 160 companies building Metaverses, and it is estimated to be a US$13 trillion market opportunity by 2030. There is yet to be a consensus on what it is. It will be immersive and persistent, combining virtual and physical worlds with an economy and value that can be earned, lent, borrowed, and extracted from the physical world. Some challenges remain, including interoperability, latency, user interface, and regulation. However, this is arguably one of the most exciting technological developments which will help create new and enhanced ways to live, shop, be entertained, seek services, and be educated. This panel will explore our future life in the Metaverse.
