Area of Expertise
Unattended automation with Microsoft Graph PowerShell
The Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK is the replacement for the Azure AD PowerShell module and is recommended for interacting with Azure AD from PowerShell.
In this session, we will start with some background before looking at how to get started using the new modules in unattended scenarios, such as Azure Automation runbooks and Azure Functions. Be prepared for some tips and tricks!
Mastering Azure Availability Zones
In the fall of 2021, Microsoft made 2 new datacenters available in the Norway East region in Azure. After an introduction to what this can enable us to do with regards to building resilient services, we will look into some real world examples. Both on migrating existing workloads into Availability Zones as well as greenfield deployments. Demos will showcase deployments and migrations using different tooling and languages, such as the Azure portal, Azure CLI, PowerShell, Bicep and Terraform.
Getting started with Dev Containers in VS Code
In this session, we will see how to get started with Dev Containers in Visual Studio Code - with a focus on PowerShell and Infrastructure As Code.
Dev Containers make it possible to onboard new team or project members instantly, as everything needed to get started contributing is available from a common image.
It also has benefits outside of team projects, as it provides advantages such as isolation and running different versions of the same software on the same machine.
Optimize your Azure cloud costs
In this session, we will look at how we can lower and optimize our cloud spend in Azure. We will look into built-in platform tools, services and functionality which can help us stay in control of budgets and save money, as well as look at some practical tips and tricks showing how to save costs by stopping services not in use (hint: not only virtual machines).
Introduksjon til Infrastructure as Code i Azure
Containers, containers everywhere!
Containers is taking the world with storm, and is a similar paradigm shift as virtual machines in the beginning of the 2000s. In this session we will look at how to get started with containers, before we look at different options for running containers in Azure.
Be the automator - not the automated
A key aspect of the modern DevOps and digital transformation era is automation. It plays a key role and is an important skill to master for the modern IT Pro. In this session we will look at some key concepts around DevOps and tooling before diving into demos showing examples on what processes and tools can be used for automation based on real world experiences. Azure Automation, Azure Logic Apps and Microsoft PowerApps is some of the technologies you will get to see in this session.
Group Policy - Cloud edition
In this session we will look at Azure Policy Guest Configuration - a new implementation of DSC which can be leveraged to manage machines running anywhere.
Unlike Group Policy, the service does not have any domain requirements, it can be used across Windows and Linux and we can use Azure Resource Manager templates to define configurations as part of cloud applications.
In this session we will look at how we can leverage both built-in content in Azure Policy, and how we can build our own custom content based on existing DSC configurations and Group Policies.
We will also see how we can manage the service using PowerShell, as well as how we can report and alert on compliance drift and remediaton actions.
Azure Functions in a hybrid world
In this session we will start by looking into scenarios for using Azure Functions in hybrid environments, before we dive into the different options for running Azure Functions in your on-premises networks. We will also look into best practices on how to organize and structure your functions, as well as see how we can store and retrieve global variables and credential assets.
