Jason Tartalone is the founding member and owner of Sergeant Rescue Training & Consulting, a professional training organization focused on wilderness medicine, search and rescue, and emergency services education. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Jason served for 12 years as both a Combat Medic and Flight Paramedic, with multiple deployments to Afghanistan and other austere environments. His operational experience has shaped a career deeply rooted in high-stakes, remote, and resource-limited care.
With over 22 years of experience in wilderness search and rescue and 21 years as an active EMS provider, Jason is widely recognized as a leader in the field. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine, has completed a Fellowship of Austere Extreme Environment Medicine, and has completed a Fellowship in Wilderness and Extreme Medicine (WEM), where he specialized in Mountain and High Altitude Medicine and Rescue Medicine.
Jason is a dedicated educator and serves as Affiliate Faculty for the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) and plays a key role in shaping national standards for wilderness care as a founding member of the Wilderness Curriculum Committee for the National Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR). He also held a seat on the NASAR Board of Directors and is one of the organization’s lead instructors and evaluators. His mission is to deliver high-quality, reality-based training that prepares responders to perform under pressure in the world’s most demanding environments.
