How I would redesign Kafka for real time analytics
Kafka is a great tool, but it was never designed to be an engine for real time analytics. There have been attempts to build a native analytics engine over Kafka, but they have been held back by its original design. In this talk, I will share how I would redesign Kafka today to become capable, reliable and cost-effective for real time analytics.
Querying 3bn rows, 200 times a second with under 100ms latency. Why? How?
BI users usually query the Data warehouse a few times a minute but as systems are more real-time, developers start to expose analytics to the end user. This talk is about every single pain we had during the last few years developing data projects with high ingestion rate, low latency and high number of queries per second. No fancy architectures, nothing crazy, just pains and real solutions we apply to solve those use cases with high volume of data and high concurrency.
