Jeff Austin has been in education for over 20 years as a social studies teacher, administrator, and consultant/coach. He helped design and open the Social Justice Humanitas Academy, a pilot high school started by a teacher team in the Los Angeles USD, where he served as teacher and then principal. SJHA had incredible success with student academic achievement, college admission, graduation, and school climate. His experience as a coach includes working with Teacher Powered Schools and supporting community schools for both Los Angeles Education Partnership and the Institute for Educational Leadership in California, New Mexico and Arizona. Jeff believes in collaborative leadership, restorative justice, social-emotional learning, and working towards more equitable practices in schools. Jeff lives with his wife and two young daughters in Altadena, CA. When he's not supporting schools, Jeff loves watching soccer, reading, exploring nature, and trying to not kill the plants in his garden.
