Creating an ADF Pipeline Management System
Azure Data Factory is an ETL game changer. While it has an impressive list of connection types and an extensive feature set, one thing it lacks is a comprehensive job management system. Real world ETL workloads require an additional layer of control, configuration, and oversight that doesn't exist out of the box. In this session, we will discuss the components and techniques involved in building a robust pipeline and queue management system.
Getting Started with Azure Data Factory Data Flows
Azure Data Factory Data Flows (ADFDF) provides the ability to move and transform data as part of an Azure Data Factory pipeline. This session will introduce you to the basics of ADFDF, including how to: define Sources and Sinks, transform data values, add and delete columns, filter data, leverage the new rule-based mapping feature, edit the code behind, and more.
Real World Azure Data Factory Data Flows
Azure Data Factory Data Flows (ADFDF) provide the ability to move and transform data as part of Azure Data Factory pipelines. This session will introduce you to the features of ADFDF by walking through a series of real world production scenarios. Examples include parsing fixed width text files, configuring data sets, handling unknown schemas and file layouts, working with very wide column counts, dynamically creating tables in Azure SQL Data Warehouse, and more.
Understanding Azure Data Factory v2
Whether it is enterprise, government, or science and research, big data and analytics projects require processing large volumes of data. Data ingestion, movement, and transformation operations consume significant time and resources. This is exacerbated by the fact that in today's rapidly shifting ecosystem, data comes from a wide variety of sources: structured and unstructured, logs, streaming data, and more. Azure Data Factory (ADF) is an Azure service that allows you to create pipelines for automatically ingesting, moving, and processing large volumes of data. In this session, you will learn the basics of ADF v2, how to create and schedule pipelines, process data from various sources, and how to create custom activities with C#.
Common Patterns in Azure Data Factory
Azure Data Factory has evolved into a rich and highly functional data engineering environment. In this session we will review a handful of workflow and pipeline patterns that occur on a regular basis, and discuss practical tips for how to implement their solutions.
Azure Synapse: Firing on all Neurons
Azure Synapse represents a new generation of data warehousing capabilities. Traditional Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Data Lake Storage, Spark, pipeline orchestration, and much more, are all unified under the Azure Synapse umbrella. This session will provide you an understanding of what Synapse is and what it can do for you, with a particular focus on three execution engines: SQL Pools, SQL On-Demand, and Spark.
