John is the Founder of Windjammer Technologies, a Silicon Valley start-up providing disruptive TCO, performance, and QOS for Big Data Analytics and ML on Cloud Data Lakes.. Prior to starting Windjammer, John was Vice President/Senior Fellow at SanDisk Corporation and Founder of Schooner Information Technologies (acquired by SanDisk), where he led explorations and creation of flash-optimized databases. Prior to Schooner, John was director of Computer System Research at Sun Microsystems Laboratories where he led research teams in multi-core processors, scale-out architectures, and advanced high-performance computer systems. Prior to Sun, John was director of Computer Systems R&D at Hewlett Packard and a key member of the core team which put HP into the commercial computer business. John holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UCLA, an M.A. in Mathematics from UCLA, an M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University. John has numerous patents and publications.
