TMS202 - Connecting the Dots of Teams Connect: Re-shaping internal and external collaboration

Chats, Channels, Private Channels… there is no shortage of places to send a message in Teams, but get ready to change the channel again! Teams Connect/Shared Channels bring an entirely new collaboration model to Microsoft Teams, increasing efficiency for both your internal and external collaboration.

In this session we will explore the use cases where Shared Channels make sense, the problems they solve, and the implications for your external collaboration strategy. In the process, we’ll explore the management, compliance and security implications of this liberating new way to work.

The Why and How of Modernizing Collaboration in Public Sector Organizations

“Modernization” makes one think of moving faster, thinking differently—and more important, IMPLEMENTING CHANGES in how and why you do things. These may not be the first things that come to mind when you think of how things work in the Public Sector, but times are changing. This session will introduce you to the journey many forward-looking agencies have been embarking on, laying the foundation for how they are balancing their commitment to responsibility and accountability with the need to provide better, faster and more effective ways of accomplishing their mission for all of us. Learn how brave organizations are leveraging innovative new technologies to drive both “quick wins” for small changes to everyday tasks carried out by their workforce, as well as large-scale re-envisioning of how they work with us and each other in inspiring and repeatable ways.

These Private Channels are OK! Re-thinking you Teams Information Architecture…

“Private” channels--- the name sounds a bit ominous, but the introduction of Private Channels has solved some very specific and widespread problems with how larger teams communicate across the organization. But with the introduction of this new type of channel, the underlying storage, compliance and membership concepts that we were used to have gotten more complex and potentially confusing. This session will cover all aspects of Private Channels-- from business value to deep management, compliance and technical architecture details— and you will leave with a solid understanding of when, why, and HOW to deploy Private Channels across your organization.

Teams AND Yammer? Yes Please! A case study

“What to use when?” is a phrase so often used when talking about Office 365 that it may have set the record for blog posts, conference sessions and heated debates. Many thought that Microsoft had moved on from making big bets on Yammer given the significant focus and attention on Microsoft Teams in recent years, so the announcements about “the new Yammer” at last year’s Ignite conference may have come as a surprise. Almost instantly the “when should I use this versus Teams” started up again. As an organization, AvePoint is heavily reliant on Teams for it’s day to day operations, but this session will go deep into the “why” and “how” AvePoint made the decision to move it’s thriving and active knowledge communities from Teams to the new Yammer.

Attendees will learn the logic that prompted the decision, the steps taken to get there, and how Yammer was configured and managed to create a broader and more effective knowledge-sharing mechanism that is relied on throughout the organization.

Just as important, we’ll detail how the organization created internal clarity for users to understand the hand-offs and co-existence of these two conversational platforms within it’s everyday collaboration

Prepare for Day 1 But be Ready for Day 2- A Government Journey To Sustainable Office 365 Adoption

As Government customers plan their journey to Office 365, they are often laser-focused on the planning and logistics of “getting there”—and it’s not just the basics like getting all of their prerequisites taken care of like security vetting, licensing, identity etc. The prospect of migrating their legacy content brings very real questions like “What will we move? How will we move it? Do we “lift and shift” our team collaboration approach, or try to transform our collaboration to new ways of working at the same time?”. But in addition to planning for these migration concerns, it is vital that these government organizations consider what will happen after they have their users in Office 365. Without proper guidance, governance and compliance strategies to ensure their adoption is steady and sustainable, organizations can risk losing the confidence and engagement of their users while also quickly ending up with a sprawling mess of non-compliant collaboration spaces and content. This session will cover proven best-practices for making sure you can effectively get to Day 1, but are also ready for Day 2 and every day that comes after.

CM301 - Protection and Retention of Office 365 Content- The MIP Primer

Microsoft has been making the case that your content is safer and better managed in the cloud—but what, specifically are they doing about it?

In this session we’ll deep dive into Microsoft Information Protection (MIP), understanding what it is, how it works, and where it came from. Specifically, we’ll cover Sensitivity Labels (Azure Information Protection), and Retention Labels (Advanced Data Governance) and along the way, learn what they have in common, what the differences are, and set you on a practical course for how to use them effectively.

More Than Meetings! Evolving Your External Collaboration Strategy With Microsoft Teams

Everybody organization does it, every day: collaborating outside your organization. With the new realities brought on by the pandemic, you have probably taken the initial steps of leveraging Teams to have productive meetings with external partners, customers, and other “guests”. But how can you turn that into productive and sustained collaboration with those important stakeholders? Allowing guests and external collaborators to have ongoing access to Teams may be scary, and your security and compliance teams may fear “opening the floodgates” or “letting them in”, but with the right approach, you can take control of your external sharing by leveraging the many guest access controls offered within Microsoft 365. This session will provide you an overview of the options and some best practices to securely balance collaboration and control.

ADM304 - More SharePoint More Fun… So… Many… Sites!

Yup, you can have 2 MILLION SharePoint sites in M365. How did this happen? First we got a new Site every time we created a team…. Then a new site every time we created a Private Channel…. Now a new site for every Shared Channel…

It makes sense, but how do we even start thinking about managing all these sites? And do we even need to?

This session will drill into both the end user experience as well and the admin management experience and explore SharePoint at scale in M365 for management, security, and compliance.

ADM104 - Choose your External Collaboration Adventure- Azure B2B and Azure B2B Connect

Let’s face it—external collaboration can be confusing. Different external user constructs for SharePoint, Teams, Groups… and now with Teams Connect and Shared Channels you have ANOTHER external sharing model to incorporate into your overall strategy. It can be a challenge to understand all the moving parts and implement the controls and management you need if you want to ensure internal information STAYS internal.

In this session we’ll explore all the different models and options, and help you design the optimal external collaboration strategy for your organization.

Protection and Retention of Office 365 Content- The MIP Primer

Microsoft has been making the case that your content is safer and better managed in the cloud—but what, specifically are they doing about it?

In this session we’ll deep dive into Microsoft Information Protection (MIP), understanding what it is, how it works, and where it came from. Specifically, we’ll cover Sensitivity Labels (Azure Information Protection), and Retention Labels (Advanced Data Governance) and along the way, learn what they have in common, what the differences are, and set you on a practical course for how to use them effectively.

TMS303 - Right-sizing your approach to management and governance of Office 365 Groups

Microsoft Teams offers fundamentally new ways for organizations to collaborate, promising high-velocity, high-visibility and minimal “red-tape” collaboration scenarios. This drives productivity on the business side but can raise some interesting questions for those tasked with management, governance and compliance of the platform. Microsoft is investing to assist with these concerns, but is it enough? The choice of “govern or do not govern” need not be a black and white one.

In this session we’ll review:
• The value and risks of both “wide open” and “highly controlled” Office 365 Group deployment options
• Management and governance capabilities Microsoft has delivered and what's on the way
• Challenges, best practices and lessons learned organizations from across the globe and their Office 365 Group deployments

ADM203 - Office 365: Rolling out without getting rolled over

As you’ve probably noticed, the pace of innovation in Office 365 is fast and furious. The fact that organizations are no longer responsible for updating their Office software is both a blessing and a curse. Changes to the applications users engage with every day can bring productivity and efficiency enhancements but without the ability to understand, plan for, and train on these updates, admins operations teams can be left with confused users, broken processes and a spike in helpdesk calls.

Microsoft has provided some functionality to manage this challenge but it’s crucial that organizations understand and leverage every available feature for mitigating risks that can be introduced by Office 365 updates.

Attendees will learn real-world best practices and Office 365 features like Release Preferences, Office update channels, and all of the release communication resources

TMS105 - Microsoft Teams for Email Addicts

Microsoft Teams offers a fundamentally new way to collaborate that can make users more efficient and effective, but don’t expect them to figure it out for themselves. Old habits die hard and email addicts need both the “why” and how” to adjust to this new world of work.

For users, this session will deep dive into Teams collaboration with lots of real-world demos.

For Admins, it’s a chance to learn how to communicate to your users how Teams will reduce the noise and increase the productivity of their inner-loop collaboration.

SPT301 - Maximize your on-premises investment with SharePoint Server 2019 & O365 hybrid scenarios

Cloud computing has become a popular way to reduce capital and operational expenditures, renew IT innovation, and gain the advantage of more rapid software delivery to meet the needs of business. However, compliance, data sovereignty, sensitivity concerns, or a significant investment in customization may limit your organization's ability to take advantage of this.

Today you can maximize your on-premises investment by upgrading to SharePoint Server 2019 and using hybrid scenarios in Office 365 to seamlessly leverage the cloud.

PWR203 - 5 STEPS TO BUILD AN FAQ KNOWLEDGEBASE WITH COMMUNICATION SITES

A good FAQ knowledgebase can be a powerful resource for your organization. In addition to providing a centralized repository of relevant information, you’re able to establish a robust self service support model that your organization can take advantage of. With SharePoint communication sites, you can easily create an FAQ Knowledgebase. It enables you to keep people up-to-date with news, and informed about product launches, campaigns, events, and policies. They’re the building blocks for a FAQ knowledgebase that connects the workplace, supporting communication and fostering engagement.

In this interactive session, you’ll learn the 5 steps to effectively build an FAQ knowledgebase with communication sites that is modern, fast, beautiful, and natively mobile

PWR102 - Microsoft Teams, Office 365 Groups, SharePoint, Yammer...What Should I Use, and When?

For today's fast-paced, mobile-driven, and globally dispersed workplace, Microsoft offers tons of great ways to effectively communicate and collaborate. But which tools are right for your organisation?

Solutions like Microsoft Teams, Office 365 Groups, Yammer, Skype for Business, SharePoint, OneDrive for Business, PowerApps, and Microsoft Flow all offer something unique to your business.

In this interactive session, you will gain practical guidance on finding the right tools to facilitate efficient communications and collaboration both inside and outside the walls of your organisation.

You'll also learn how to drive adoption and keep your chosen solution under control. Get ready to walk away with the ability to chart a productive and pragmatic collaboration approach that delivers immediate and lasting value to your modern workplace.

OFF202 - Layers of the Onion: Managing External Sharing in Office 365

Office 365 can solve a long-standing problem—how to securely share information and content with partners, customers and guests outside your organization with maximum productivity and minimum risk. But the mere mention of “guest access” and external sharing has many legal, compliance and IT teams reaching for the “off” switch and leaving it there.

Microsoft has provided an easy and intuitive way to initiate external sharing in Teams, Groups and Sites, but the management of external sharing and the risk it can introduce are not so easily understood or implemented. There are tenant level controls, AAD level controls, and application level controls that need to be orchestrated to ensure the right blend of access and control.

In this session we will review the layers of management controls—and the roles that should be managing them—to help you formalize your guest access strategy for Office 365.
