Jonathan P. Carolla, MS, NRP, FPC, NCEE, is a nationally certified paramedic, flight paramedic, and EMS educator with extensive experience in prehospital care, critical care transport, and EMS education leadership. He serves as the Education Coordinator for Life Lion EMS and Co-Chair of the Education Council for Life Lion Critical Care. Jonathan also supports national education initiatives as Education Manager for Every Coast Helicopter Operations and provides EMS consulting through The Kyle Group, helping deliver education and training across West Virginia’s Region 1.
Previously, he served as an Education Specialist with the Emergency Health Services Federation, where he led rural EMS education efforts and developed the Rural Mobile Education project, bringing high-fidelity simulation training to underserved agencies through a custom-built simulation ambulance.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in emergency medical care administration and has recently completed his Master's of Science Degree in Emergency Disaster Health Services with a concentration in education from UMBC.

The Lethal Diamond: A BLS Approach
This one-hour continuing education course introduces EMS providers—primarily EMTs—to the concept of the Lethal Diamond in trauma care. Participants will review the pathophysiology of each of the four components: hypothermia, acidosis, coagulopathy, and hypocalcemia. The course focuses on how these factors contribute to worsening trauma outcomes and explores how timely, effective BLS interventions can reduce or delay their progression. While BLS care is the emphasis, the course also provides an overview of ALS treatments such as calcium administration and blood product transfusion, helping BLS providers understand their role in supporting the broader trauma team.
