Modern vSphere Monitoring, and Dashboarding using InfluxDB, Telegraf, and Grafana
On a modern Datacenter, we find ourselves surrounded by a lot of metrics, systems that require our attention or monitoring, alarms and events management, etc.
In this session, we will learn how to create beautiful, and meaningful Dashboards from our vSphere most critical assets like Hosts, VMs, Cluster, and Datastores. The best part is the whole monitoring system can be deployed in seconds using Docker, and it does use the vSphere SDK, which makes it non-intrusive and very efficient.
Did I already mention that this whole monitoring and dashboarding is entirely free for our vSphere Environments?
RESTful API - How to consume, extract data, store it, and visualize it with InfluxDB, and Grafana
Nowadays, every single modern application, system, or solution it does expose a RESTful API. For one side, this is absolutely great and it has lead to where we are today, having hundred of other solutions or applications that can leverage these API, extend them, or even build on top of them.
On the other side we have the difficulty to monitor these new, and modern, systems, applications or solutions.
In this session, we will learn how to query the data first using Swagger, when available, extract and parse the useful data for us, store it in InfluxDB, and finally how to create beautiful, and meaningful Dashboards to have everything on a single pane of glass.
