I have over 31 years in the world of RDBMS. I have in-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and the Azure platform (Data Factories, Logic Apps, Functions,Event Grids...) . I am fiercely passionate about my work.
I am currently developing a new Azure ecosystem for Penguin Random House. This includes moving load processes to Azure Logic Apps and Data Factory pipelines, leveraging Azure Functions for in-house APIs, building billion row cubes in SSAS and pushing the new SQL Services to the limit.
I am the creator of the Enhanced Threading Framework (ETF) for SSIS. I presented at PASS 2013 on advanced SSIS techniques: http://www.sqlpass.org/summit/2013/Sessions/SessionDetails.aspx?sid=4845
and was awarded '2009 Exceptional DBA of the Year', by RedGate and my peers.

Azure Events: Hands-off automation
Learn how to use Azure Grid Domain to automate your data loads. We will discuss different events (storage events, http events, timed events), how to connect them to the event grid and finally how to make use of that data.
This is generally a 60 minute session, but can be modified to fit a slightly longer or shorter format. Slides are used due to the fact this is all based on production assets. Target audience is beginner.
Building a complete API in Azure
This session will take an in-depth look at using SQL Server to back a fully functional enterprise level API built in Azure. I will go over best practice designs for tables, views, stored procedures, Azure Functions (c#), Azure App Services, and finally Azure API Management.
60 minute session. Beginner level. This was first presented at #SQL Friday Episode 8 in July.
Near-time cubes in Azure SSAS
Learn how we use various Azure services (Logic Apps, Data Factories, and Event Grid Domains) to keep our cubes in near-time synchronicity with our source data.
60 minute session. Intermediate level. The user should be familiar with the above mentioned services as we will discuss how they interact and not go into much detail about each one. A portion of this was described in a video I did for PASStv in March of 2020.
High Performance Large Cubes in Azure SSAS
Learn how to improve the performance of very large SSAS models. In this talk we'll go over model structures, learn about 'interim tables', design and implement 'filter tables', as well as best practices for the use of these models in PowerBI
60 minute session. Intermediate level of both SQL and Analysis Services Cubes.
Using ScriptDom TSQL parser to inspect object depenencies
In this talk I will show you how to build a C# function app that inspects SQL code (using the ScriptDom TSQL Parser) to improve the lineage of and insight into your Microsoft SQL server objects (stored procedures and views).
